Nationals from Republic of Moldova shall be required to hold an airport transit visa when passing through the international transit area of airports situated on the territory of Cyprus.

However, nationals of the above countries are exempt from the airport transit visa (type A) requirement if they meet at least one of the following conditions:

1. Hold a valid visa or residence permit issued by a Schengen state;
2. Hold a valid visa or residence permit issued by a Member State of the European Union/EEA or Canada, Japan or the United States OR when they return from those countries after having used the visa;
3. Hold a residence permit listed in Annex V issued by the Principality of Andorra, Canada, Japan, Republic of San Marino, or the United States, that guarantees unrestricted right of return;
4. Are a family member of a citizen of the EU, EEA or Switzerland (must be able to prove with documents);
5. Hold a diplomatic passport;
6. Are a flight crew member national of a contracting party to the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation.

If you do not meet any of the above conditions YOU WILL NEED TO OBTAIN A VISA BEFORE TRAVELING.

Please note that an airport transit visa only allows a short stay in the international transit area. If you have to pick up your baggage, to check in again, to pass passport control or if you are transiting though two or more airports in the country you will need a Transit Visa (type B). The type B visa is valid for a maximum duration of stay of 5 days for transit purposes.

Note! When boarding, the airline check if you have a valid airport transit visa OR if you meet the requirements to be exempt from visa.

• Valid Passport with the minimum validity required by the country of destination (normally 6 months). For Cyprus the validity must be at least 90 days beyond the date of departure from Cyprus.
• A valid visa (type A– if you do not leave the international transit area of the airport or type B/C if you will leave the international transit area) OR evidence that you meet one of the conditions to be exempted from the airport transit visa (conditions described above).
• Documents for the final destination (valid visa, in case you need it - only if the final destination is not the country of nationality).
